Citizen's burning in

Before they suppress the truth.

With highly displeasing and bitterness, The Association for Human Rights Legal Aid [AHRLA] has received the complaint of the family of Khaled Abdelnaby, 19 years old and the resident in Faid town- Alismaelia governorate. The complaint refers to that in the day 13/3/2004 one of the detectives of the fanara police station forces has arrested him from the way and took him to the office of the station and there he and other detectives had beaten him, and hanged him from his legs, and as a result of such harsh torture he has fainted, and then they put him in detention  room, and he found himself alone in it by chance, and with no mercy they burned him while he was sleeping, he woke up to find the fire burning his lean body and his clothes, which injured him burning of first, second, and third degrees over more than 40 %  of his body.

The lawyers of [AHRLA] moved on in order to meet the victim and know the actual events, and he said:

" I was going home with my mother when the detective "Saied " and he told me that I the one who stole the electric wires, and he arrested me and took me to Alfanara police station, starting with the other detectives to beat me, and hanged me as a carcass and I have fainted, and I was half-sleeping alone in the detention room when I found the fire burning my shirt, and then they took me to Faid Hospital where the responsible refused accepting me and turned me into the University Hospital, from where the chief of investigation turned me into Faid police station again, and he told me that my family is a poor one so if the prosecution asked me I have to say that I tried to run away, because I'm afraid of previous sentence on me, so I  fell down in a  burning rubbish hole, and he put my fingerprint on  a white paper, then they sent me to the University Hospital of Alismaelia since 21/3, and they had bonded me to the bed, and when  the prosecution came and asked me I was so scared so I told them what he demanded to say, after that the hospital refused continuing staying in saying it has no security guards and driving me out, I went to Faid Hospital until the official of the Faid police station made a report  deposed that I am not wanted and there is no need to put me under  safeguarding, with that report my family could inter me University Hospital again. Now the important matter that I have to tell the whole truth, improving my right because what happened to me is guilt and unlawful."

Once the lawyers of [AHRLA] heard the above statement  went to MR/ Chief of Faid Prosecution and made a request to him to give his order to one of the gentlemen prosecutors  to go to the hospital and to hear the victim's testimony, but he refused their request, immediately they went to MR/ Consultant the Attorney General for Alismaelia prosecutions and asked him the same request  and he approved to returning again to the General Prosecution in Faid to make the necessaries and proving the victim's testimony rapidly in order to stop the flood of policemen's threatens.

The lawyers of [AHRLA] until writing these lines are  still trying proofing the victim's testimony before the General prosecution.

MR/ Consultant Attorney General:                              

        In the name of all the victims of torture we appeal you to give your order now to hear the testimony of the victim, who is confined to bed and exposed to sharp health deteriorations which may kill him in the room no.1 of Alismaelia University Hospital, and we ask you also to protect him.
