The committee of defending Badr El-Deen Gomaa Together versus the charged with torture, falsifying and ravishing On Thursday 4/12/2003 Alexandria Criminal Court, the second district, with the presidency of the consultant/ Bakry Abdallah Mahmoud Aly and the membership of the two consultants/ Abdel Qader Ahmed Ismael and Ibrahim Moustafa will be held to hear the Case No 64122 classified Crime for the year 2003 and registered with No 633 Total East. The following police officers will be trialed:
The association adopted the case 8 years ago, and recently has called for forming a defense committee titled "The National Committee for Defending Badr EL-Deen Gomaa". The association took that step for its desire to make all the civil society powers, all the human rights organization, lawyers and activists take part in defending Gomaa, considering his case a typical case represents the injustice and the disgrace, the average man may be exposed to by being tortured by police officers inside police stations. Several human rights organizations, lawyers, public personalities joined the committee. The list of human rights organizations contains: the Egyptian Committee against Torture, the National Progressive Unionist Party, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, the National Association for Human Rights, the Hisham Mubarak Law Center, Al-Nadeem Center of rehabilitating the victims of violence, Land Center for Human Rights, Egyptian Association Against Torture, Egyptian Initiation for Personal Rights, the Egyptian Child Rights Center, Egyptian Center for the Right to Housing, the Association of Human Rights Advocates in Alexandria, the committee of liberties in the bar association, Al-Raml lawyers group in Alexandria and Al-Montazah lawyers group in Alexandria. As for the lawyers, the committee is honored by the participation of: Mr. Ahmed Nabil El-Helaly, Mr. Adel Eed Member of Parliament, Mr. Moustafa Al-Bakry, Dr. Awad Mohammad Awad, Mr. Mohsen Hashsash, Mr. Ahmad Hassen, Mr. Adelo Al-Laimouny chief of liberties committee in Al-Fayoum bar association and member in the bar board, Mr. Abdel Monem Al-Tahawy, member in the committee and Mr. Mohammad Al-Damaty. And the public personalities, the committee is honored by: Dr. Laila Swaif, professor at the faculty of science, Cairo University, Mr. Yehia Qalash, press syndicate Secretary General. In addition to the following parliament members: 1- Abo El- Ezz Al-Hariri Alexandria 2- Al-Badry Farghaly Port Saied 3- Hassen Al-Mohandes Sohag 4- Kamal Ahemd Alexandria 5- Adel Eed Alexandria 6- Mohammad Mokhtar Gomaa Aswan 7- Mohammad Abdel Aziz Sheban Cairo worthy mentioning that The Association for Human Rights Legal Aid has done great efforts and got through many paths in defending Gomaa, has also organized several gatherings and used many tools of media to publicize the issue and obtain advocacy for the victim, this resulted in many advocates but torture is still being practiced, we hereby launch a human call for the public conscience in Egypt to support the association by writing, defending, fighting by all the possible means, each with his/her ability against torturing human on the hands of a human. |
