Continuing in our struggle against Torture in Police stations
Judging only six of the 12 indicted police officers
Following up the caseof Mohammad Badr El-Deen, which is a landmark case has ever seen in the courtsof known by the public, and in respect to our objectives as a human rightsorganization in realizing justice as well as the target of supporting thevictims of torture by all means. The Association for Human Rights Legal Aidannounces the recent developments in Badr El-Deen's case. Though the developmentcomes exciting, it is rather doubtful. A hearing session was appointed to thetrial ofonly sixof the indicted 12 police officers, who weretransferred to the court with charges of torturing and forging.
Followingthe names of the six going to be-trailed officers:
"First indict:Moustafa Omransearching inspector.
"Second indict:Attia RezqEast Sector searching agent
"Third indict:Mohammad Abbaschief of Al-Montazah police stationsearching
"Fourth indictMohammad Al-Saieed the head ofcriminal search department
"Fifth indict:Islam HenedyAl-Montaza Searching assistant
"Sixth indict:Mohammad Goharsergeant at Al-Montaza searching
The six police officers will be trailed on Thursday06/11/2003 before Alexandria Court, in case No. 64122/2001 Al-Montazahcriminals, 623/2001 Alexandria Total. Second cycle.
AHRLAwhile announcing this recent news about the case, aiming at drawing theattention of all who might be concerned and those who care for the dignity ofthe Egyptian citizens, calls again for the honor lawyers in Egypt and all thehuman rights activists to join the defense group, which will be responsible forproviding Badr with the necessary legal aid to obtain his rights form theslaughters and to make these officers an example for those who might imaginethat it is easy to play with the citizens' dignity or safety.
