The campaign of

Drinking Water and the Law in Egypt

An Appeal to support.

In the frame of its using of jurisdiction ground as one of change and reform means, the Association for Human Rights Legal Aid decided to raise the drinking water issue and putting it before the Egyptian jurisdiction as one of the vital cases that concerns millions of the citizens, whereas the executive bodies have caused inferiority of drinking water goodness levels to unrecorded degrees.

Receiving complaints program in the association for Human Rights Legal Aid has received many of individual and collective complaints about that matter, the last one was the collective complaint that presented by the tens of residents in Alkhossos in the scope of Great Cairo, that complaint referred to pollution of drinking water and mixing it with draining water, and the people of Alkhossos described their drinking water as dark, bad smell and dusty water, which has caused infection them and their little children with digestive diseases and urinary system diseases, the matter which will lead to spreading killing diseases like epidemical hepatitis and renal failure.

A field team work of the Association made facts-finding work and gathering of life testimonials and some the handwritings complaints of the people and medicines working in health centers of the region, which all came to assure that the pollution of the drinking water happened as a result of some kind of melting of the health draining net, and the shortage of the drinking water purifying processes.

The Association for Human Rights Legal Aid place the whole responsibility on the Egyptian government, because it is responsible of the health of the people as the others governments, and to keep the conditions of public health it must be there are enough healthy and social procedures, and that is intuitive according to the institution and The International Human Rights Conventions especial the International Declarations for the Cultural and Social and Economic Rights.

And depending on the association’s belief in that the Jurisdiction system have to care about justice, and it have to enable the people to make use of improving their lives, and ensure their rights. And the law have to be positive pushing power, and the collective work is the right way to achieve any advanced steps, so that we appeal all the civic society activities to support this campaign against the pollution of the drinking water in tens of the cities and countries, in order to protect the health and the lives of millions of Egyptian against that slow death.
