Association for Human Rights Legal Aid Campaign "To Preserve Victims Voices"
Sign this petition to prevent escaping of Egyptian's State Security Investigations (SSI) officer from punishment as he accused of torturing up to death the Egyptian citizen Mohamed Abdel Kader, and also to release his detained brother Sameh Abdel Kader.
This is not the last incident of torture and maltreatment of citizen on the hands of Egyptian police officers. In 16th of September 2003 Mohamed Abdel Kader was arrested with his brother Sameh, by a force belong to Egyptian's SSI, the detainee were driven to the custody of Al~Hadayek police station (East of Cairo). Mohamed died after 5 days of continuing torture and electrical shocking, his brother Sameh still detained under remand until now. Association for Human Rights Legal Aid (AHRLA), worked hardily in spite of many obstacles for legal proceeding of the accused Egyptian's SSI officer Ashraf Mustafa Hussein Safwat to the criminal court that is responsible for the detention of the brothers. The accused officer had already stood before the criminal court which will continue its audiences on Saturday 3rd of February 2007. AHRLA has information denoting that Egyptian's SSI officers are practicing threatening and extortion on the victim's family in the form of releasing their son Sameh upon stoppage of their legal proceeding of the accused Egyptian's SSI officer and cancellation of retainer of AHRLA lawyer and cessation of litigious rights and asking for redress. AHRLA circulated a press release to announce the inaugurating of a campaign entitled "To Preserve Victims Voices" to prevent escaping of Egyptian's SSI officer from punishment, and also to urge the guardianship prosecution for interference to protect the underage three daughters' victims after submission of the victim's family to the SSIS extortion and threatening. AHRLA invited human rights organizations, civil society activists, freedom committee of the Bar, local and international anti-torture organizations to compact with the victim's family and to constitute a coalition for fair trial of the criminal responsible on torturing of the victim till death, and the impartial redress of the victim's family in addition to release their son Sameh who still detained under remand until now. One of the main AHRLA demands from the Egyptian authorities resemble the reformation of the current criminal law to be adherent with the international convention for abolition of torture which had been singed by Egypt in 1986, which mean that the Egyptian government is responsible for taking different procedures and all the guarantee to prevent torture crimes committed by police officers in police stations and detention sites and legal proceeding of torturers. We call Mr. President, prime Minster, Minister of Justice, Minister of Interior and the general prosecutor of Egypt to take all measures and procedures that guarantee to avoid escaping of the police officer from punishment as he accused of torturing and killing the Egyptian citizen Mohamed Abdel Kader and releasing his detained brother. Our voice will be more audible, whenever the number of petitioners is large Please sign this petition and forward it to as much as possible
