Petition to the President
"Give citizens the right to demonstrate peacefully"
The Association for Human Rights Legal Aid demands the right of civilians to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people
In full view of hundreds of millions of onlookers, Israel is continuing her policy of brutal violations against the Palestinian people, and against religious sacred sites. Israel has shown blatant disregard not only to all conventions and international customary laws, but also to the growing Arab anger. Millions of people have been following these brutalities on their television screens and asking themselves just how cheap has Arab blood become…
Mr. President,
Solidarity with the Palestinian people by all legal means possible is the right of every citizen. It is every citizen's right to assemble and demonstrate peacefully to express their anger at the inhuman practices carried out by Israel. This is their means of adding their voices to that of the general public outcry, and of lending support to the Palestinian people by expressing their complete solidarity with them in the face of these barbaric Israeli attacks.
Mr. President,
The Egyptian people, in view of their age-old civilization, should be among the first to raise their voices against the ongoing injustices, so that the entire world hears how Israel, constantly bragging about her sham 'democracy' is in fact a racist state, pointing the muzzles of her guns towards Palestinian children and civilians.
Mr. President,
We ask that peaceful demonstrations and all other forms of solidarity with the Palestinian people be allowed, and that the Egyptian police not deal harshly with supporters of the Al Aqusa Intifada. This is an essential and basic human right.
Respectfully yours,
Mohamed Abdel Moneim,
Director of AHRLA
